The Hosting FAQ’s is provided to help answer some of the more frequently asked questions concerning our managed hosting services. Should you have any other questions then please contact us and we will be pleased to assist you.
How much does hosting cost?
Please check our hosting packages page for up to date pricing. Prices start from only £49 a year ex VAT
Is there an initial set up fee?
No, there is an no initial set up or joining fee.
Does the hosting package include Email
Yes, all hosting packages include POP email accounts.
Does the hosting package include web statistics?
No. Our managed hosting solutions support Web Statistics at an additional charge. Please check our Web Site Statistics page for more information.
How much space do I get and how much does additional space cost?
The amount of space allocated will vary dependent upon the managed hosting package you opt for. Extra space can be allocated for you at £20 ex VAT per 25MB per year.
How much bandwidth is allocated and and how much does extra bandwidth cost?
The bandwidth supplied with each site will vary dependent upon the hosting package you opt for. The standard data transfer rate commences at 500MB a month. Transfers exceeding the allocated rate are invoiced in arrears at £15 per GB per month.
How long will it take to set up my hosting account?
Your hosting account will be set up within 48 hours of Chi Storm receiving a purchase order or appropriate authority to proceed. However, domain transfers can take several days to propagate and Chi Storm has no control over this process.
What information do you require to set up my hosting account?
Chi Storm will require a purchase order or appropriate authority to proceed, together with billing details.
We will also require details of the domain or domains you wish to be hosted and any special requirements you may have. You will also need to provide us with the email addresses you wish to have set up, if required.
What information will I receive once the hosting is set up?
We will provide POP 3 email details, and if required FTP access details.
What are the POP and SMTP server addresses?
The POP server address will be mail.yourdomain.com. The SMTP server address will be your internal server IP, this is only for use when sending mail from your website (using Jmail or a sendmail cgi script) other wise use your dial-up ISP SMTP server address.
How do I login to my POP3 mail box?
POP server address: mail.yourdomain.com
Account name: username@yourdomain.com
Password: As issued during account set up.
What databases do you support?
Currently, MS Access 97 and 2000
Do you support MySQL or MS SQL?
Yes, we now offer access to SQL Server databases
What ASP mail component is installed on the servers?
Jmail is installed on all servers.
When using JMail it only seems to work with some eMail addresses, why?
You can only use email addresses of domains that are hosted on our servers. This is to prevent SPAM being sent through our SMTP servers.
Do you have an ASP upload component installed on your servers?
Yes, ASPUpload is installed. This is an Active Server component which enables an ASP application to accept, save and manipulate files uploaded with a browser. The files are uploaded via an HTML POST form with one or more <INPUT TYPE=FILE>tags. The <FORM> tag must contain the attribute ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data"
Do you charge me if I want to transfer my site to another host?
No, you can transfer your site at anytime. We will do all we can to help and not charge you a penny.
